New News

It has been a slightly busy week. On Monday we traded in our '03 Jeep Liberty and upgraded to an '06 Mazda 6. Jordan and I were both nervous just cause it's our first time buying a car. We really like it though! It gets more miles to the gallon (32 compared to 16), it's a safer car (ranked #1 this last year), it doesn't have over 100,000 miles (only 60,000), and it can hold 2 car seats comfortably (not that we will be using that feature anytime soon :) but this will be our car till we run it into the ground.

Yesterday I got my very first sewing machine. It's a Bernina 240. I have been researching and visiting sewing machine dealers for about 2 weeks. It's my graduation present from my parents and boy am I excited. I picked up the machine yesterday at 4, came straight home, then the rest of the night was just me and my machine. Jordan was very good to let me spend our date night with my new toy.

I start sewing classes in October and until then I'm just playing around with my machine trying to sew. I started my first project last night and finished it this morning. I made a headband out of a tie.

Because I don't have a lot of sewing accessories I made due with what I could find. The tie is one of Jordan's that he let me have, and the elastic that I put on the bottom is from a pair of Jordan's old pants. I found it fun trying to not spend any money and I got a new headband from it.
